Rio Rancho Landfill Accepts Windstorm Debris
Free of Charge from Local Residential Customers


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ALBUQUERQUE, May 10, 2006 – Debris resulting from the windstorm that occurred in the Albuquerque Metropolitan Area last night may be disposed of at Waste Management’s Rio Rancho Landfill for free by local residents.

Items such as tree branches, tumble weeds and other yard waste will be accepted from Waste Management’s residential customers in the City of Rio Rancho, the Town of Bernalillo, the Village of Los Ranchos, the Village of Bosque Farms and Bernalillo County free of charge at Rio Rancho Landfill through Saturday, May 13, at 1 p.m. Proof of residency in one of these regions is required in order to dispose of yard waste at no charge – normal rates will apply for landscapers or other businesses bringing yard waste for disposal.

The Rio Rancho Landfill is located on Northern Blvd., 2.7 miles west of State Road 528. Hours of operation are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, please call customer service at 892-1200.
