In the Community

You will continue to see our familiar Waste Management logo as we support community groups and help with recycling and clean-up projects. We are proud of the role that Waste Management plays in the community and of the valuable service and economic benefits our company provides to the residents and businesses in New Mexico. Working as a partner, we hope to see opportunities for community partnership continue to grow. Waste Management of New Mexico also supports local organizations by participating in and coordinating services to the following:

  • Neighborhood Boards
  • Elementary, Middle and High Schools
  • Community Groups
  • Environment
  • Youth Programs
Community Involvement:

Waste Management has been involved in the San Juan County community through numerous education-oriented programs. One such program has been the San Juan College Endowment, established to fund scholarships for CDL driver training. Informing the younger generation of San Juan County is also an important goal of Waste Management. We have been successfully educating school-age children about our industry through facility tours for Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, public schools, and home schools. Presentations to homeowner associations and civic groups as well as classroom presentations are also given whole-heartedly upon request.

Environment

Our company is acutely concerned about the environment and embraces every opportunity to be more environmentally aware and to teach others how to minimize human impacts. This environmental concern for the community is evident in our funding of twice annual clean-up campaigns for the City of Farmington and our Annual support of Cupid, Cleanup of Illegal Dumpsites. Our company has also waived fees for numerous activities including a $15,000 disposal fee for San Juan College/San Juan County dump site clean-up in 2004, disposal fees for several roadside clean-ups, fees for a number of BLM clean-ups, and fees for the annual Farmington Lake Clean-up. We also offer annual support to local 4-H programs like Pooch Patrol. As a member of the San Juan County Community, we are committed to protecting the local environment and ensuring its sustainability for generations to come.

Charitable Giving

Waste Management gives over $100,000 annually in donations and sponsorships. Our management and employees donate countless volunteer hours to numerous local organizations including not-for-profit organizations, schools and business organizations.
